NRP Policy Board Elector Registration Deadline Nov. 13: Candidate Information and Voter's Guides Now Available

The deadline for registering neighborhood electors and alternates for the upcoming NRP Policy Board election is Thursday, November 13. Each Minneapolis neighborhood organization can select an elector and alternate to vote on behalf of its neighborhood on election night. Neighborhood organizations representing more than one neighborhood need to select one elector and alternate from each neighborhood represented by the organization. Electors and alternates MUST reside in the neighborhood they are representing. Neighborhood organizations are encouraged to select electors/alternates at a well-publicized open meeting. Electors/alternates must be at least 18 years of age as of November 20, 2003. Elector registration forms have been distributed to all neighborhood organization board chairs. The forms must be completed, signed by the organization board chair or co-chair and returned to the The League of Women Voters of Minneapolis (LWV) office no later than Thursday, November 13, 2003.

Registered electors and elector alternates will be sent more detailed information about the upcoming forums and the election itself by the LWV. If you have questions about the NRP Election process, please call the League of Women Voters of Minneapolis at 612-333-6319 or Carsten Slostad of the NRP at 612-673-5150.

Fourteen candidates have filed for four open neighborhood representative seats on the 2004 NRP Policy Board. The 19-member Policy Board provides overall direction to the program and is primarily responsible for the review and approval of Neighborhood Action Plans. Election proceedings will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2003 on the second floor of the Crown Roller Mill Building, 105 Fifth Avenue South. Candidate filing is now completed. A 2003 NRP Policy Board Election Voter's Guide featuring candidate responses to several questions is now available. You will need a copy of Acrobat Reader to view the 2003 Voter's Guide.
